Welcome to Redefine Us!
What if, from now on, the only way for people to understand what you do is for them to experience the power of your coaching?
Main learning points from the book: The Prosperous Coach by Steve Chandler and Rich Litvin.
A dictionary of terms often used at Redefine Us.
I succeeded in beginning to work. I don’t know exactly how but after 6 months of struggle something clicked in my head.
n my next conversation with Noam, he told me:
‘Dan, one of the clients that I was counting has backed out. I only have about 3000$ in the bank right now and I’m afraid that I might soon run out of money. I might not be able to pay you and thus not fulfil my agreement with you.’
From December, my will to fight had been slowly draining. Since I arrived home in Romania to this point, I decreased the intensity of work three times. I was feeling like I had to take on the world. As I mentioned before, I had signed an agreement with my parents to become financially independent until the 1st of March. I wanted to go to Berlin, to have a fresh start, to explore some more of the world. But as time was passing by, the meaning of these things started fading from me.
I had been tasked with help in serving a client. In addition to his coaching with Noam, this client would send me daily updates of his day, and at the beginning of each week I would send him an e-mail containing: Coaching Questions about the way he spent his time/things he replied the previous week, a Masterpiece Card and an Inspiring Video.
Here are keypoints of the things I learned about: (1) Creating Clients and (2) Coaching Clients:
In my final three weeks in Costa Rica, Noam returned. We began two weeks of intensive training. This was not training only for the job, but a different perspective of how to do the dance of life.
I left Costa Rica with the experiences of an entire year in my mind and heart. But I felt there was no time to stop and think back. I had a race against myself to win. As I said previously, this was my first job and other than what I had done for studies I hadn’t worked a day in my life. I needed to create an environment to help me move further into the scene of response ability.
My two months in Costa Rica were a period of experimentation and inner reflection. Every week when I spoke to Noam we explored both aspects of the job per say, and aspects related to my coaching.
My coaching was heavily related to the questions:
‘What do I want?’
‘What am I afraid of?’
Soon after our agreement, Noam invited me to come stay in Costa Rica for two months. He was going to travel and he offered me his apartment while he was away. Only then did it strike me that this journey had just begun.
My journey at Redefine Us officially began on the 21st of August 2015. It was then that we had worked out the agreement under which we would collaborate. It immediately struck me that this was not a contract, but an agreement between two people. This was not about being held responsible by a piece of paper, but an agreement to the way things will be done to achieve a common purpose.
There is little else that can raise your confidence and joy in life than creating something and seeing it finished before you.
My journey began with an online invitation to apply for an amazing job. I was a student in Malta at the time and I wanted to write, to create, to really do something with the hand I was dealt in life. However, I dreamed too much and acted too little. I didn’t even know how to summon the will to do what I loved most - writing.
